Yes!!! Another lotion to add to my skincare routine! Wishtrend sent me the COSRX Oil-Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion (With Birch Sap) to review for you guys, and I’m so glad they did! If you read my Nighttime Skincare Routine, you’ll know that I struggle with finding that perfect and effective moisturizer for when my skin gets dry. I’m happy to say that I think I might have found it!
Let’s start with the main star of this lotion- birch sap. After some research, I found out that birch sap is the sap extracted from the birch tree (duh), and “is touted for replenishing the skin and protecting skin cells.” (Source). And this lotion is made with 70% of it, making it super moisturizing. But what gave me the best impression of the birch sap is the scent of the lotion. It took me three days to try to place what the smell reminded me of, and then it hit me when I was in the shower one day- coke! It smells like coke! It’s fresh, tingly, and I love it.
The lotion claims to “hydrate, protect, and comforts the skin with an oil-free, lightweight formula.” After using the lotion for four days, I did notice that in the morning, my skin felt supple and smooth, and there was actually visible signs of decreased redness.
The consistency is light as well, and drastically less gunky then the Clinique moisturizer I’ve been using when applied onto the face. I apply it after I cleanse and exfoliate, and my skin seems to drink it up immediately. It’s also suitable for all skin types, including sensitive, oily, and acne-prone skin, because my skin is a combination of those and I’ve had no reactions from using it.
This lotion is light, moisturizing, and really sinks into my skin allowing it to become supple and smooth. The birch sap gives it a wonderful coke scent, making it refreshing and cool on the skin.
I dislike the packaging immensely. The box looks like it’s made out of cheap cardboard, and came dented and creased in many places. The bottle itself is just plastic with no design except a sticker slapped on crookedly with the ingredients and text. I actually had to double check that this was the right product sent to me by Wishtrend, because it looked like a cheap knock-off product that someone DIY-d in their kitchen.
The product itself is great, with it doing exactly as it claims. I just wish the packaging made it appear more high end and high quality, and got rid of the cheap appearance. There are better ways to pull of the “minimalistic” design, and I would suggest first starting with aligning the sticker straight.
