DIY Tumblr Baseball Caps

diybaseballthumb

What’s up guys!

I’m back again with another DIY video! Honestly I think I may have found my calling, LOL. I love coming up with creative ways to make things without spending the full price on it! So I’ve never been much of a hat person, but honestly those cute baseball hats on Tumblr really caught my eye, and I was obsessed with the pastel pink and blue ones. And guess what- they only cost $3 at Walmart of Marshalls.ย IMG_30411.Pastel Watercolor Smudge CapScreen Shot 2017-03-05 at 5.59.58 PMScreen Shot 2017-03-05 at 5.59.25 PM

What you’ll need:

  • blank white baseball cap
  • blue, pink, yellow acrylic/fabric paint
  • Foam poly brush / napkin (I ended up using napkin)
  • water

Honestly this one is self explanatory. Squeeze out your paint and add a splash of water for the watercolor effect. I then started with the foam poly brush, but didn’t like the flat, long strokes, so I ended up wadding up napkins, dipping it into the wet paint, and smudging it over the hat. Don’t worry about being neat- you want a random and slightly messy effect. Allow gaps of white to seep through while moving on to your next colors.

I’m honestly obsessed with this color palette. It’s so artsy and the colors really make an artist’s statement.

2. Embroidered Stussy CapIMG_2946 IMG_2975

Stussy, the designer brand, sells these pink embroidered baseball hats for $45, so I was like oh heck no and decided to embroider my own. Yes it doesn’t look perfect, but yet it only cost me $3 so I mean, no complaining.

What you’ll need:

  • Pink baseball cap
  • Thread
  • Needle
  • Pen

Taking a pen, I’m going to outline my word as a guideline. Then taking my needle and thread, I’m going to poke the needle through the inside of the hat (so the knot is hidden underneath) onto the bottom of the first letter. Then doing a simple backstitch, just follow the outline. This is tedious and will take some time, but it’s worth it.

What you’ll need:

  • blank blue baseball cap
  • Sticker jewels
  • Hot glue gun

Who doesn’t like bedazzling? I had a bunch of these sticker jewels, so I busted out the new hot glue gun! Lay out your jewels in the pattern and arrangement you want first before you commit to gluing, and then heat the gun up and do so. Honestly so easy to do and reallyย dazzles up the hat. ๐Ÿ˜‰
