I’ve spent most of my life in New Orleans, but it wasn’t until I started blogging, vlogging, and Instagramming through the meager portion of my basic, aesthetic-driven life that I really started searching this city of its best hipster photo spots. Call me basic, yes, call me ratchet. But NOLA, I’m coming for your Instagrammable locations whether you like it or not. Here are my top 3 places for the perfect #Foodstagram, but if you leave me a nice comment below I might divulge my full list of locations. 🙂
1000 Girod Street, New Orleans 70113
Dwight Schrute is practically quaking in this modern avocadotoast-meets-downtown-hipster cafe nestled a few blocks away from the Ace Hotel (another Instagrammable gold mine) that caters towards the health obsessed, smoothie drinking açai bowl eating hipster. Beets somehow manages to sneak its way into this cafe’s theme in the form of cold pressed juices and beautifully plated breakfast bowls that make a photo hard to pass up. But really, when has toast looked this sexy…
703 Carondelet Street, New Orleans 70113
One does not simply visit Downtown Nola without popping into Drip Affogato, a small but incredibly chic store located conveniently right off the streetcar stop that specializes in adffogato (espresso poured over ice-cream), milk tea, coffee, and ice cream. Hi, I’m Keliee, and my matcha obsessed soul comes here to die. Check out my blog post about Drip here. When you go, get the cafe au lait and the matcha ice cream. Indulge in the milk tea if you so wish but my matcha one tasted like grass. But matcha… oh matcha…how I still love you so. Even in your.. natural… milk tea form.
4525 Freret Street, New Orleans, 70115
Pfffttt I’m not biased or anything… it’s not like I’m the Creative Director and photographer for Piccola or anything..
But really, I fell in love with this rustic gelato shop the first time I set my eyes on it. I took one look and told myself I wanted to photograph this store. Not only does Ria, the owner, have a different floral arrangement in every day, you can take a picture with Piccolo, the gigantic bear and mascot that hangs out on the bench outside. This shop is classy, sleek, home-y, and the gelato (shameless plug by the way) is made fresh every day by Ross, Ria’s husband and chef of 30+ years with over 180 different flavors that rotates daily. My suggestions: Kookie Caramel, Cookies Black, and Chocolate (70%). That is, if you’re lucky to walk in on a day they’re available..
Alrighty, these three places have the @itskeliee stamp of approval. Let me know what you think, and if you swing by these places, be sure to tag me in your photos. 🙂
Lots of love,
